.htaccess / Nginx Config Explainer
Paste an Apache .htaccess or Nginx server block and get a plain-English, line-by-line explanation of what each directive does - redirects, security headers, caching, hotlink protection, and red flags. Everything runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

RED FLAGS
LINE BY LINE
tap any line for the full explanationHonest scope: this is a static reader - it explains common directives accurately but does not run the config or start a server. Lines it cannot identify get flagged as "not recognised - likely fine but check the docs"; it will not invent an explanation for something it does not know.
>_ FAQ
What does this .htaccess rewrite rule actually do?
Paste the config into the explainer and it reads each RewriteRule, RewriteCond, Header, and FilesMatch directive back in plain English - e.g. "forces HTTPS on everything", "blocks directory listing", "protects wp-config.php", plus a red-flags list for security-critical directives.
Can I tell if a config is Apache or Nginx?
Yes - the tool auto-detects the dialect (RewriteEngine/.htaccess markers vs server{}/location{} blocks) and explains each directive against the correct knowledge base, or you can force .htaccess or Nginx.
Does my config get uploaded anywhere?
No - the explainer reads your config entirely in your browser with JavaScript. Nothing is uploaded, logged, or stored; close the tab and it is gone.
